Who Is Amelia Earhart?

Do you know who Amelia Earhart is? July 24th is Amelia Earhart day! Let's learn a little bit about her.

Amelia Earhart is most famous for being the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean! An aviator is another word for a pilot, someone who operates an aircraft or plane! Amelia Earhart broke many aviation records, including being the first woman to fly solo across the United States and the first person to fly solo across the Pacific!

She also published books, helped form an organization for female pilots, and made many efforts to forward women’s rights and careers! While attempting to break another flying record, Amelia and her navigator, Fred Noonan, disappeared during a flight over the Pacific Ocean. They, along with their plane, were never found and their disappearance remains a popular mystery with many conspiracy theories.

Amelia Earhart was a big celebrity when she was alive and to this day is still celebrated as a pilot and feminist figure. Amelia Earhart’s legacy is celebrated in so many ways, including her birthday! Amelia Earhart Day is every year on July 24.
